Las Vegas 5th to 6th December continued. Visiting LuXor Pyramid and other places

Las Vegas, USA. LuXor attractions
The tunnel of time. Another video session then we were led into a room with an 11 story high screen. Half the fence in front bent over to hold us while we watched the Hero and the Heroine and the evil guy step into the time machine and travel forward to after a holocaust. Doctor Osiris captured the heroine and sent the hero into the future to see him. An old Davros like figure, he'd taken control of the dying Earth and ruled it with the power of the heroine in stasis with the Obelisk.

The hero manages to reverse time and everything becomes ok when they leave Doctor Osiris in an alternate future. His 'transportation' company would've been the cause of the war. Very good special effects.

It was dark by the time I'd got out again. Oops. Also went on the Nile cruise which was very interesting. An almost perfect replica of Ramsus the Second's temple, apparently, was inset into one of the walls and you could only see it if you had a key to a room or you went on the cruise.

Inclinators took you to the top at a 45 degree angle. Would've liked to check that out. Couldn't without a key.

When I left, the sphinx's laser show had begun. The pyramid cost $US400 million dollars to make and was made from profits from other gambling enterprises. It employs about 10,000 people. There are only three things that can be seen from space. The great wall of China, the lights of Belgium and, now, the huge light that streams from the  tip of the LuXor pyramid every night.

Laser light shone from the Sphinx's eyes and feet.

I'd rung Showboat to confirm that it's ok to arrive at 7pm. Yay! Looked for a bus. Battery ran out on the video by the time I'd got on it. (Got on 302 which gave me a transfer to 301 as I was on the wrong bus!) Took 301 to Fremont and walked back. Checked in for only thirty something dollars.

To find my room I had to carry my heavy bag around for about 15 minutes before I actually found where room 231 was. And I wasn't too impressed with it. Still, can't really complain for $30. Showered and headed back out again.

This time up Charleston street. Got to the strip and begain buying souvenirs. Most shops stay open til midnight on Sundays. Decided I couldn't walk the distance back to LuXor to buy mum a T-shirt so took the bus. Another $1. On the way to the bus, encountered a black guy who wanted to know if I wanted to get high and if not, could I give him a dollar. When I got my wallet out he asked me for two. Gave him two, shook his hand and went to the bus.

Had a coffee  at the LuXor bar because their places close at 11:00 and it was 11:20. Then rang Kerry & Mum. They'd got up to my first Chicago postcard. They'd been expecting me to ring.

Took out 4 quarters and dropped them into random machines. Managed to score about $6.00. Drops of 5c and 10c coins and occasional 2c coins. Also encountered a machine which had two left so I put them into it. Spent two dollars back in so profited about $3. (Got my two back from donation!)

After Luxor, using a Wizard prediction game and buying souvenirs, I walked back up the strip snapping photos. (On the bus back, finding that the film hadn't wound on properly. Bugger.)

Went to Treasure Island lookout cafe and had a fruit medly and coffee. Which took care of all the money I'd won!
