Walked back down Fremont. Went to the hotel. Did packing. Showered. rested for awhile and checked out. On the way back I found that my film that the cheapskate in Chicago had given me was only 12 photos long. The bastard! Took me an hour and a bit with my heavy bag to walk up to Amtrak. Checked bag in and sat down to wait. Then headed to McDonalds to buy hotcakes for breakfast. (Half an hour before the train was due) A huge room of slot machines that lead you into McDonald's looks interesting!!! Finally on the train. Got a window seat and bought some film at a ripoff price. Fell asleep and missed a lot of interesting rock formations. Oh well. Bought the souvenir blanket. This'll be fun to carry around! (I'd bought some cookies at Luxor so was eating those as well as some jelly mummies!) As I write this it's half an hour til Los Angeles. --- Finally got to LA, then got lost! Well, not really. I just wasn't sure where I was! Eventually worked it out and headed for Broadway. (I'd rung Viscount for directions and they said to take the No 42 bus) so I walked and walked. Now having more stuff with me than I had begun with I was finding it difficult to walk with the load. (After walking so much through Las Vegas) I'd attached the little green bag to the backpack and had been carrying a heavy Hyatt washing bag as well. Now I was carrying a Las Vegas bag with cutting handles. Found bus 42. It wasn't until I was approaching Broadway St that I remembered that's where I'd got the bus before. It took an incredibly long time to get to the terminal but it eventually made it and I was pleased to discover that the Viscount Hotel was in sight of the bus stop. I can easily get a bus to downtown LA and back if I wanted. Unfortunately the train ride from Las Vegas to Los Angeles contained dust from a sandstorm that seemed to be blowing across the desert. No sand dunes, just lots of dry areas. Lots of scraggly plants but no cactus. (I got a sore throat from it. Also, with all the carrying I'd been doing I had some sore muscles.Awww) Got to Viscount. Checked in. Dumped stuff and laid back on the bed. Turned on the TV and caught the final episode of the '93 series of Roseanne which I'd missed in Australia. Then watched news on Hubble telescope repairs, then flipped channels, saw ST-TNG Descent 1 was being screened. Turned off! Showered. This shower has a massage nozzel. You turn it to the desired setting and it alternates between them and shoots at you like a machine gun. Really cool, and you can have different combinations. After that I watched the Welcome to Los Angeles' channel so I don't need to see Universal studios now! Then found out that ST-TNG Descent part 2 was being screened. Tuned in. Hadn't seen it. It was OK I suppose. Loved the idea of hiding in the corona of the sun and creating a jet of star mass, utilising the metaphasic shield, to destroy an enemy ship. Excellent. After that was Real news which featured a story on a female producer of ST-TNG and showed clips of eps I haven't seen! Then went to sleep. Not much had happened today but a lot was planned tomorrow.
